US Actor, Johnny Wactor, Shot Dead In Robbery Attack

  American actor, Johnny Wactor, has been shot dead in Los Angeles during a robbery attack. The actor, known for his role in the soap opera ‘General Hospital’ was mourned by the producers of the TV series in the early hours of Sunday. The ‘General Hospital’ statement read thus: “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this time.” Wactor’s mother, in an interview with journalists, narrated that her son was returning to his car after his side job at a rooftop bar when he discovered three men trying to steal catalytic converter from his car. Thinking it was being towed, Wactor confronted them only to be shot fatally by one of the masked men. Wactor’s mom described her son’s death as ‘Senseless’. Paramedics arrived at 3am and took the actor to the hospital where he was finally pronounced dead. Born in 1986

BREAKING: Court Orders Police To Evict Deposed Emir Bayero From Mini Palace

  The High Court of Kano State has directed the Commissioner of Police in the State to evict deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from the mini Palace in Nasarawa area of the Kano metropolis. The court also issued an interim injunction preventing the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from parading himself as the Emir of Kano. The orders were delivered by Hon. Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the High Court No. 7 on Miller Road, Kano. The orders were sought by the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, and the State House of Assembly in a suit against Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the four other deposed Emirs including Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar II, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya. This move is said to reflect inDrive's customer-driver negotiation model as ride-hailing becomes more popular in the country. It also aims to encourage more ride drivers to take up gig work, as pricing has been a common issue for drivers. According to Femi Adeyemo, Bolt's communication manager, the driver benefits by earning more, and the same standard commission applies to all trips. A Nigerian pilgrim named Tawalkatu Alako from Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State has died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.   The executive chairman of Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday, May 26, 2024.    “The deceased died on Saturday after a brief illness and her funeral prayer took place at the Al-Masjid Al-Haram (Ka’aba).   The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Kogi, has declared three-day mourning over killing of two students of the institution by kidnappers. The CUSTECH Registrar, Ms Olufunke Hudson, made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday.The students – James Michael-Anajuwe and Musa Hussein, first year students of Information Technology and Software Engineering, respectively, were among students of the university kidnapped on May 9. They students were abducted while reading for their examinations slated to start on May 13.   Sporadic protest rocked Kano on Sunday against the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano and the abolishment of the five emirates.   The Kano State House of Assembly has dethroned the five Emirs and abolished the five Emirates in the state. The development followed a special session held by the lawmakers on the floor of the house presided over by the speaker, RT. Hon. Jibrin Falgore. At the resumed proceeding, the Assembly has passed Kano emirates council law (repeal bill) 2024 after scaling 3rd reading. All offices established under the repealed law have been set aside by the new bill. Also all district heads elevated or appointed under the repealed law are to revert to their previous positions.   Migrant graduates who go to the UK through the Graduate Route will soon need to take mandatory English tests every year.   This change is part of a new government plan to make sure only the best and brightest stay in the UK.The Cabinet is set to approve these new rules for the scheme, which now allows foreign students to work in the UK for two years after they graduate.   The new policy will also affect universities and colleges with high dropout rates.
