Emirate tussle: Protest rocks Kano over Sanusi’s reinstatement

 Sporadic protest rocked Kano on Sunday against the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano and the abolishment of the five emirates.

Our reporter gathered that the protests were recorded in Kano and Gaya Emirates of the state.Leading the protest around Gidan Nassarawa in Kano, Aminu Umar said all they demanded was immediate return of Aminu Ado Bayero to his seat. “We are in support of the return of Aminu Ado Bayero back to his seat. We don’t know any other person. He is the man of the people. And that is why we are calling for him to be returned to his seat with immediate effect.”

It was gathered that the protesters lit a bonfire.

It was also gathered that the protesters observed a special prayer to seek divine intervention.

The protesters displayed placards with inscriptions such as: “Abba Kabir Yusuf, Obey Court order”, “Court Brought You”, “You Must Obey The Court”, “Aminu Is Still Our Emir”, “We Are Against Injustice.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that earlier in the day some youths around the Kano Emirate staged solidarity protest in support of the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II.
