  The High Court of Kano State has directed the Commissioner of Police in the State to evict deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from the mini Palace in Nasarawa area of the Kano metropolis. The court also issued an interim injunction preventing the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from parading himself as the Emir of Kano. The orders were delivered by Hon. Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the High Court No. 7 on Miller Road, Kano. The orders were sought by the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, and the State House of Assembly in a suit against Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the four other deposed Emirs including Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar II, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya. The order reads: “That an order is hereby granted to the extent that the Commissioner of Police Kano State should immediately take over the palace of the Emir of Kano situate being and lying at State Road Kano an

A Nigerian pilgrim named Tawalkatu Alako from Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State has died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.   The executive chairman of Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday, May 26, 2024.    “The deceased died on Saturday after a brief illness and her funeral prayer took place at the Al-Masjid Al-Haram (Ka’aba).   The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Kogi, has declared three-day mourning over killing of two students of the institution by kidnappers. The CUSTECH Registrar, Ms Olufunke Hudson, made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday.The students – James Michael-Anajuwe and Musa Hussein, first year students of Information Technology and Software Engineering, respectively, were among students of the university kidnapped on May 9. They students were abducted while reading for their examinations slated to start on May 13.   Sporadic protest rocked Kano on Sunday against the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano and the abolishment of the five emirates. The development followed a special session held by the lawmakers on the floor of the house presided over by the speaker, RT. Hon. Jibrin Falgore. At the resumed proceeding, the Assembly has passed Kano emirates council law (repeal bill) 2024 after scaling 3rd reading. All offices established under the repealed law have been set aside by the new bill. Also all district heads elevated or appointed under the repealed law are to revert to their previous positions. There was a mild drama at a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, as detained Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan, who is facing a money laundering charge, slumped in the open court over alleged ill-health.The development occurred shortly after the matter was called for trial continuation before Justice Emeka Nwite.As soon as the case was called by the court registrar, Gambaryan did not step forward to the dock from the back row seat where he was seated.Justice Nwite then asked where the 2nd defendant (Gambaryan) was and one of the lawyers in the defence team, who sat beside Gambaryan, held him by the side towards the dock.As they walked slowly to the dock, Gambaryan fell down and the lawyer assisted him to sit in the front row seat. The operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have stormed the palace of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, as rumours of imminent deposition of the Emir thicken. This is coming at a time when Kano State Assembly passed the Kano State Emirates Council Amendment Law (repeal bill), 2024. Journalists who visited the palace around 11am, saw some DSS operatives stationed in the palace. Though the Emir of Kano was said to be in Ogun State on a private visit to Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the security operatives were seen at the entrance of the palace waiting for any eventuality.
