Paul Pogba refutes claims that Manchester United offered him a new £500,000-a-week contract that would have made him the highest-paid Epl player

Paul Pogba has dismissed reports that he has been offered a new deal by Manchester United.

 

Reports  by The Sun on Friday January 7, stated that Pogba was offered fresh terms worth £500,000-per-week last summer that would have made him the highest paid player in the English premier league

But a spokesman for Pogba has issued a statement to deny suggestions of a recently extended contract offer from United.


The Frenchman is currently focusing on returning to action from injury and has entered the final six months of his contract.


''To clarify media reports, Paul has not been offered a new contract in recent months. Paul is fully focused on his recovery from injury with the aim of helping the team as soon as possible.'' a statement from Pogba's spokesman to Sportsmail read.

Pogba is in the final year of his contract and is free to speak to foreign clubs over a pre-contract agreement this month. 


If Manchester United and Pogba are unable to come to terms on a new deal it would mean that they would lose Pogba for nothing this summer.

Man shot dead by police officer who tried to jump fuel queue in Lagos; police identifies officer responsible

  A police officer has gunned down a Lagos resident who prevented him from jumping the queue to buy fuel at a Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) filling station at Obalende in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.    Toheeb Eniafe was in the queue to get petrol on Wednesday evening, May 1, when two men, said to be police officers, attempted to drive into the station to buy petrol even though they were not in the queue to get the product.  This attempt by the police officers to jump the queue was met with stiff resistance from people in the queue who had been waiting for hours.   Eniafe was at the forefront of the resistance, telling the men to join the queue like everyone else.   This degenerated into a physical fight and one of the men shot Eniafe before fleeing the scene.  An angry mob was said to have chased and caught up with one of the officers but he later escaped after firing shots in the air.  On Thursday, May 2, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ben

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has claimed that the West and various international monetary lenders keep Africa in continuous poverty.
