The social media space on Thursday is abuzz with reactions from Nigerians who have accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of lifting its ban on Twitter for the sole purpose of campaigning with it ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The Federal Government had on June 4, 2021 suspended Twitter operations in Nigeria over the alleged use of the platform to undermine Nigeria’s corporate existence.

This came after Twitter deleted a controversial tweet by Buhari against separatist protesters after Nigerians massively reported the tweet.

“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occured during the Nigerian civil war. Those of us in the field for 30 months, who went through the war will treat them in the language they understand,” Buhari had tweeted.

Many alleged that the deleting of the tweet got the Federal government enraged, hence, the ban.

Today, many Nigerians have described the lift as nothing to celebrate while mocking the Buhari administration, saying that they only banned themselves from using Twitter and not Nigerians as the ban did not prevent them from tweeting all these while.

Others maintained that the President only lifted the ban to enable him and the APC campaign on the microblogging platform and probably buy the hearts of Nigerian youths

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said Point of Sales (POS) transactions value had increased from N38 million per month in 2012 to N24 billion monthly in June, 2014This is contained in a report on e-payment transactions released by the apex bank in Abuja on Monday.According to the report, mobile money transaction values up to N819 million monthly.“The POS transaction increased in volume from less than 2000 in January 2012 to 1.6 million per month as at June 2014.“Over 150,000 POS terminal is presently across the country and 22 mobile money operators has been licensed,’’ it added.It added that licensed Payment Terminal Service providers increased from five to 10 to increase POS terminal penetration across the country.It noted that Nigeria Inter Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) instant Transfer had increased in volume from 87,000 transactions a month in January 2012 to 3.1 million transactions a month as at June 2014.

  A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has appealed to Anambra state pupil, Mmesoma Ejikeme, whose JAMB result was withdrawn, to ‘’come clean" with the source of her result so he can beg the board to show some leniecy towards her.   In a statement released on Wednesday July 5, Chidoka, who is also the owner of the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre where Mmesoma sat for her examination, said he will beg the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for leniency, if she explains how she got the result she was parading. He pointed out that the result Mmesoma was parading had the initial name on his center which has since been changed. His statement reads;     “Miss Nmesoma Ejikeme took her 2023 JAMB at my foundation’s Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Center at Obosi.
