Forbes names Dangote, Putin among world’s most powerful

Image
The Forbes magazine, in its annual ranking of ‘The World’s Most Powerful People’, has listed the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, as the most powerful ahead of Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and United States President, Barack Obama. Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is also listed among other world leaders. Observers view Putin’s ranking could be traceable to Russia’s capacity to check the US threat to attack Syria. The Russian President has been so ranked by the magazine for the third year in a row. “Putin continues to prove he’s one of the few men in the world powerful enough to do what he wants,” Forbes noted. Merkel, earlier ranked as the most powerful woman in the world by Forbes, rose from the fifth position in the overall ranking last year to second place in 2015. Her firm bearing in tackling the influx of Syrian refugees and the Greek economic crisis pushed her to the new level. The list has 73 people who are presidents, financiers, philanthropists and entrepreneu

It said the non-implementation of the payment policy so far is due to the fact that it was not included in the 2015 budget, which was prepared by the PDP-led Jonathan Administration, and also because of the need to first block all financial leakages. ”Now, the Buhari administration has been busy putting into place measures that will make it possible to start

Politicians express divergent views on ministerial screening

Image
Lagos – Some politicians in the Lagos area on Thursday expressed mixed reactions to the ongoing screening of ministerial nominees by the Senate. While some praised the exercise as impressive, a few others noted that there was room for improvements. Some others noted that if portfolios had been attached to the names of the nominees; it could have provided better impetus for the type of questions being posed to the nominees by the senators. According to them, it will provide better insights into how they will perform on the job as ministers. However, it was a general consensus among some Nigerians that so far, the exercise had been well-received. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Senate has since screened an appreciable number of the nominees since the first batch numbering 21 were sent in by President Muhammadu Buhari on Sept. 30.

Never get too comfortable. There should never be a time in your journey to the top where you stop and think “Ok, I’ve done enough, I can stop working so hard.” If you’ve met your goal and made a million dollars, set another one. You should never be comfortable, you should always be working for more. Related: Here's Why You Need to Step Outside Your Comfort Zone 3. Study and work harder than anyone. The One Thing That Determines Your Success as a Leader

Leadership is a complex endeavor, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. We tend to make things more complicated than they need to be and that’s definitely true in the field of leadership. To prove my point, go to Amazon.com and search their book listings for the word “leadership” and see how many returns you get (but wait until you finish reading this article!). What did you find? It was 138,611 as of the writing of this post. Browsing the titles of some popular best-sellers would lead you to believe that in order to be a successful leader you just need to find the magical keys, take the right steps, follow the proper laws, figure out the dysfunctions, embrace the challenge, ascend the levels, look within yourself, look outside yourself, form a tribe, develop the right habits, know the rules, break the rules, be obsessed, learn the new science, or discover the ancient wisdom. Did I say we like to over-complicate things? What if successful leadership isn’t really that c

"We met at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on the 27th October, 1967," Challis told Mashable Australia, recounting the evening like it was only days ago. "It was a Sunday night, and Arthur and I just happened to be walking out of the art gallery together. We were standing near each other in the foyer and I just turned around and smiled at him and he smiled back at me." Challis asked Cheeseman if he would like to go and have a cup of coffee, and the pair chatted and found they had many things in common — an interest in the opera, gardening and art. "We met again the next day, and we met again the next day, and we met again the next day... and gradually our relationship built up, and we grew closer and closer together, and the years went on and on and here we are," Challis said.

3 Ways to Use Mobile Marketing to Keep Customers Coming Back

Image
Seventy percent of companies say it’s cheaper to retain an existing customer than to acquire a new one, according to a report. And they are right: acquiring a new customer can be five times more expensive, which is hopefully enough to convince you that customer retention should be on your radar at all times. So how do I retain customers you might ask? The answer is simple: mobile marketing. Given that 60 percent of the time users spend online is through their mobile devices, establishing a solid mobile presence ensures that your customers always have a piece of your brand at the tip of their fingers. Here’s how it’s done: The right place, the right time Mobile devices draw tons of information from users. Some of this information, such as geolocation, can be instrumental in optimizing your brand’s mobile product specifically for consumers. 5 Things Millionaires Do That Most People Don't

My lifelong dream is to create more millionaire students than any other stock trading teacher out there. I’m lucky enough to have reached the seven-figure mark myself, and now, I’m dedicated to sharing everything I’ve learned - including the stock trading patterns that work in any market - with the students in my Millionaire Challenge. But one thing I realized pretty early on was that, if I wanted to teach people to be millionaires, I had to study people who had already reached this level of wealth. I had to learn what they did differently so that I could help my students to not just hit this magic number, but to retain the money they earn and build generational wealth. And today, I’m sharing a few of the things I’ve learned with you. I hope they help - no matter what financial stage you’re currently in. 1. Millionaires work hard. A lot of people think that winning the lottery is their ticket to success, but I’ve got bad news for you. Nearly 90 percent of lotter

As with Meerkat and Periscope, celebrities will also be able to toggle between their smartphone's front and rear cameras, see how many viewers have tuned in, as well as view (and hide) their comments. Videos are saved afterwards to their Facebook Pages. A Facebook live video feature was a long time coming for the social network and a notable omission when it launched an embeddable video player at F8 this March. The humble French kiss can pass on human papilloma virus (HPV), and Head of Maxillofacial and Head and neck Surgery at the Royal Darwin Hospital, Dr Mahiban Thomas, said the virus was responsible for 70% of head and neck cancer cases. Apollo Hospital Series on Childhood Cancer Causes and Risk Factor

Image
What are the risk factors and causes of childhood cancer? Cancer begins in the cells, which are the building blocks of your body. Normally, new cells form as you need them, replacing old cells that die. Sometimes, this process goes wrong. New cells form when you don't need them, and old cells don't die when they should. The extra cells can form a tumor. Benign tumors aren't cancer while malignant ones are. Malignant tumor cells can invade nearby tissues or break away and spread to other parts of the body. Children can get cancer in the same parts of the body as adults, but there are differences. Childhood cancers can occur suddenly, without early symptoms, and have a high rate of cure. The most common children's cancer is leukemia. Other cancers that affect children include brain tumors, lymphoma, and soft tissue sarcoma. Symptoms and treatment depend on the cancer type and how advanced it is. Treatment may include surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy. A
